Village chair from Maguindanao del Norte killed in Sultan Kudarat ambush
Datu Manalao Mangelen Nur Sr., the barangay chair of Dados, was shot dead by two unknown motorcyclists while driving on the Sultan Kudarat provincial road.
On Sunday morning, Datu Manalao Mangelen Nur Sr., the chairperson of Barangay Dados in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, was fatally shot while driving his black Nissan Navara along the Sultan Kudarat provincial road in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat. According to Maj. Jeffrey Lazaro of the Esperanza Municipal Police Station, two unidentified suspects riding pillion on a motorcycle opened fire at approximately 11 a.m. Nur was on his way to his farm when the attack occurred.
Bystanders and police transported him to the nearest hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival. The Datu Odin Sinsuat Liga ng mga Barangay issued a statement calling the murder a loss for the community and demanding a rapid, unbiased investigation. Police have said the motive remains unknown as the investigation continues.
