Villagers tie up and beat man after he visited married woman in UP village, video spreads

On a Friday afternoon in Maholiya Veeran, a settlement under Khutar police jurisdiction, two youths named Radhe and Sonu went to meet a 28-year-old woman who had been in telephone contact with them and is married for about eight years. Villagers intercepted the pair, believing they intended to abduct the woman, and one of the men was secured to a tree with rope and beaten while onlookers demanded his name and address. The confrontation was recorded and the video later spread widely on social media.

Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit confirmed that both men escaped the village after the assault and that a First one outlet's Report was filed charging them under Section 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for alleged kidnapping. Police have taken note of the viral footage and said they will pursue legal action against those who tied and assaulted the youths if a formal complaint is lodged.
