Vince Gilligan revealed that the script work for Pluribus season 2 has finally been completed, a process that started in December 2025. Production is expected to commence in the fall, and there are hints that the season could expand to ten episodes instead of the originally planned nine, though the decision remains pending. The show received a two-season commitment when the first season aired in November 2025, and the upcoming release may not arrive until roughly July 2028, creating a hiatus of close to three years.

Gilligan described the delay as a consequence of building the narrative piece by piece and navigating creative challenges. He also noted that no fixed long-term roadmap exists for the series, with its continuation tied to lead actress Rhea Seehorn’s involvement. The extended break mirrors similar gaps seen in other streaming dramas.
