Vincent Reynouard sentenced to eight months for Holocaust denial in Paris court
A Paris criminal court sentenced Holocaust denier Vincent Reynouard to eight months in prison for articles denying gas chambers, and ordered Rivarol director Jérôme Bourbon to serve six months of electronic home detention.
On September 22, a Paris criminal court handed down an eight-month prison sentence to Vincent Reynouard after finding him guilty of Holocaust denial for articles that dismissed Nazi gas chambers as "Soviet propaganda" and claimed they were technically impossible. The ruling noted Reynouard’s history of ten convictions dating from 2006 for contesting crimes against humanity. He was also convicted of antisemitic defamation for describing Jews as a "pathogenic agent."
The court also sentenced Jérôme Bourbon, director of the extremist weekly Rivarol, to six months of imprisonment to be served via electronic home detention. Both men were ordered to pay joint damages to the Observatoire juif de France, the Ligue internationale contre le racisme et l’antisémitisme, the Bureau national de vigilance contre l’antisémitisme, and the Organisation juive européenne.
