Vincent Tejedor appointed head of France's ecological planning office

At the conclusion of Thursday's council of ministers, Vincent Tejedor, a mining engineer born in 1985, was appointed secretary general for ecological planning, a body attached to the Prime Minister that coordinates France's environmental and climate policies. The office, established in July 2022 after Élisabeth Borne became Prime Minister, is responsible for shaping national strategies on climate change, energy transition, biodiversity protection and circular economy, and ensuring their implementation.

Tejedor had been serving as head of the environment, energy, transport and housing division in the Prime Minister's cabinet for under a year. He succeeds Augustin Augier, who took over a little more than a year ago, following Antoine Pellion's earlier tenure. The appointment comes amid growing public skepticism about ecological initiatives and after a recent heatwave highlighted France's climate-adaptation challenges.
