Vinted rolls out new terms for 17 million UK users, altering fees and counterfeit rules
From 8 October 2026 Vinted will require UK members to accept revised Terms and Conditions that rename the Buyer Protection fee, extend response times for counterfeit claims and tighten moderation powers.
Effective 8 October 2026 Vinted will ask all UK users to consent to a refreshed Terms and Conditions agreement. The most visible change for buyers is the renaming of the mandatory Buyer Protection charge to a Vinted fee, which will continue to be levied at 3-8 percent of the item or bundle price and will still fund refunds and transaction management. Sellers will benefit from a longer window - 48 hours instead of 24 - to provide evidence of authenticity when a counterfeit allegation arises; failure to do so after a six-week retention period will allow Vinted to dispose of the item without compensation.
Moderation provisions are being streamlined, granting Vinted the right to take “proportional” corrective actions, including account blocking, for unlawful or security-threatening behavior. Users planning to close their accounts must withdraw any funds from their Vinted Wallet, as the closure may trigger a request to the wallet provider. Finally, the updated terms require that the bank account linked to a Vinted Wallet matches the wallet’s balance details, with verification required before payouts can be processed.
Why it matters
The changes affect how millions of UK shoppers and sellers use Vinted, influencing fees, dispute handling and account security.
