Violent altercation erupts at Westlake wedding after brothers crash reception

A wedding in Westlake, Ohio turned chaotic when a group of brothers entered the reception and a guest brandished a butter knife, leading to a brawl and multiple arrests.

At approximately 8:50 p.m. Friday, a wedding reception at the La Centre Banquet Facility in Westlake, Ohio, was interrupted when four brothers entered the ballroom and confronted guests. One of the men, Raed Mahmoud Sulaiman, seized a butter knife from a place setting and advanced toward other attendees, prompting a guest to hurl a chair at him. The sudden violence caused dozens of partygoers to rush out of the hall and gather in the parking lot, where police encountered a crowd of about 40 people.

Westlake Police Captain Jerry Vogel confirmed that the suspect was arrested and charged with assault, inducing panic and tampering with evidence after discarding the knife. Two other individuals, Ali Wahdan and Abdallah Wahdan, faced charges for violating a protective court order and aggravated menacing, respectively. Officials noted that longstanding hostility between two families contributed to the outbreak.
