Viral 'Oreogate' Instagram saga appears to be a paid AI music promotion
A series of Instagram videos dramatizing a kindergarten Oreo dispute, posted by @ashleighjamz, is actually a sponsored campaign for the AI music app Suno.
A viral Instagram series called "Oreogate" depicts a parent group chat over kindergarteners bringing Oreos to school, with a mother demanding the cookies be stopped for her child named Ava. The story is presented through screenshots set to songs produced by Suno, an AI music application, and each clip carries the hashtag #sunopartner. Suno confirmed that the account @ashleighjamz is a paid collaborator but does not control the narrative of the posts.
The creator has declined to confirm whether the depicted exchange actually occurred, and has not answered follow-up questions. The campaign has attracted widespread media attention, with millions of views and numerous user-generated responses, while pediatricians and the Oreo brand have been asked for comment. The phenomenon highlights a growing trend of fabricated "storytime" content used as covert advertising on social platforms.
Why it matters
It shows how AI-driven ads can blur the line between genuine user stories and sponsored content.
