Vivek Ramaswamy's $4 Million Ohio Attack Ad Tested on Trump Voters

A focus group of Ohio voters who backed Donald Trump examined Ramaswamy's controversial ad targeting Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton.

In the Ohio governor's race, Vivek Ramaswamy funded a $4 million attack commercial that depicts Amy Acton's mother alleging deception, while omitting the mother's long-ago estrangement from Acton. The ad, praised by Donald Trump and JD Vance, was presented to a small group of ten Ohio voters who had supported Trump in 2024 but were now disillusioned with him. Five of the participants had earlier taken part in a focus group and were somewhat receptive to Ramaswamy, while the other five were only mildly interested.

The session also included Acton's counter-advertisement featuring her brother. The exercise aimed to determine whether the harsh attack would persuade voters despite its questionable credibility.
