Volkswagen reports strong demand for its new electric Polo model
Volkswagen says orders for the fully electric Polo have far outpaced its original forecasts, with particular enthusiasm in Germany.
Volkswagen announced that reservations for its all-electric Polo have significantly exceeded the company’s expectations, especially among German buyers. The model entered the market at the end of April, first offering a better-equipped version with a larger battery, while the entry-level variant with a smaller pack became available later in the year. Built in the Martorell facility near Barcelona, the plant is working to ramp up output to meet the heightened demand, which has resulted in extended lead times for some configurations, though ready-to-sell units are already on dealer floors.
Across the ID lineup—including the ID. Cross, Škoda Epiq and Cupra Raval—Volkswagen reports more than a hundred thousand pre-orders. The automaker aims to expand its electric entry-level segment with a forthcoming, lower-priced model slated for 2027. Industry analyst Stefan Bratzel highlighted the Polo’s importance for VW’s electric strategy, noting that its success will depend on how it competes on price and features against increasing competition from Chinese manufacturers.
