Volvo refreshes EX40 and EC40 electric SUVs with upgraded design and tech
Volvo has updated its EX40 and EC40 electric SUVs, adding new headlights, a revised grille, larger infotainment screen and wireless charging.
Volvo’s compact electric lineup has been refreshed, with the EX40 receiving a subtle facelift that introduces new LED headlights, a re-shaped cooling grille and redesigned rear lights. Inside, the cabin now uses higher-grade materials, and the central touchscreen has grown from 9 to 11.2 inches, supporting the Google Gemini AI platform. Additional features include a wireless charging pad and updated ambient lighting.
Powertrain choices for the EX40 cover a 238-hp single-motor model, a 252-hp larger-axle variant and a high-performance dual-motor version, while the longest-range version can travel up to 575 km on a single charge. The EC40, which debuted as the C40 Recharge in 2021 and was renamed in 2024, also got a design refresh but retains its maximum 584-km range version. Both models aim to broaden Volvo’s electric offering alongside the lower-priced EX30.
