VP adviser James Orr quits after undercover video shows illegal foreign donation scheme

James Orr, a Cambridge professor and former top aide to Nigel Farage, has left his position after an undercover operation captured him consenting to funnel foreign contributions into a British political party, a breach of UK election regulations. Orr, who has been labeled Vice President JD Vance’s “British Sherpa,” maintained a close friendship with the VP, meeting him at conferences and even hosting Vance’s family in the United Kingdom.

The video, released publicly, also features Reform UK media adviser Dan Jukes and Farage thanking an alleged U.S. donor, leading both to resign in an effort to shield Farage. Prior to the scandal, Orr downplayed his influence on Vance, describing their relationship as a mentorship. The VP’s office did not comment on the allegations. The incident raises questions about foreign influence in UK politics and the vetting of close advisers to American officials.
