Waffle House trials seven taco options at select Atlanta sites

Waffle House is piloting a line of seven taco varieties at about 45 locations in the Atlanta metro area, with mixed reactions online.

Waffle House has begun a limited-time trial of seven taco styles at approximately 45 outlets in the Atlanta metropolitan region, close to its corporate base. Breakfast tacos feature egg, cheese and a choice of bacon, sausage, chicken sausage or ham, while lunch and dinner versions include a cheesesteak melt, chicken melt or patty melt, and all can be ordered at any hour. The company says early internal response after a week has been favorable, yet online commentary is divided, with some users praising the concept and others deeming it superfluous.

The experiment follows earlier product tests such as the Fiesta Chicken Protein Bowl and a canned cold-brew coffee pilot. Waffle House’s core menu remains its classic waffles, hash browns and breakfast plates, and the taco rollout will cease when supplies are exhausted.

Why it matters

The trial shows how a classic diner brand is experimenting with new menu items to attract customers and stay relevant.
