U.S. equities hovered close to all-time peaks on Tuesday while Brent crude dipped under $98 before rebounding to about $99.66.

On Tuesday, U.S. stock indexes stayed near historic levels, with the S&P 500 up 0.1% and the Nasdaq climbing 0.4% to a fresh record, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.3%. Brent crude briefly traded below $98 per barrel before recovering to $99.66, still far above pre-Iran-war prices. AutoZone surged 6.1% after reporting better-than-expected profit despite weaker revenue, and Thor Industries rose 5.1% on a profit beat, though its CEO warned about high fuel costs and inflation.

Meanwhile, oil-producer ConocoPhillips fell 1.7% and major banks, including JPMorgan Chase, dropped amid pressure from the Federal Reserve’s recent rate hike. International markets mostly rose, with Hong Kong and Shanghai gaining modestly after Alibaba unveiled new AI chip technology, while London’s FTSE 100 slipped 0.3%. Swiss sneaker maker Holding jumped 8.8% after announcing a $1 billion share-buyback plan through 2029.
