Walmart pulls 3,240 tomato soup kits over Listeria contamination risk

Kettle Cuisine, a Maryland-based food manufacturer, has recalled 3,240 tomato soup kits sold exclusively at Walmart stores across 29 states after laboratory testing detected Listeria bacteria. The affected kits, marked with a best-by date of August 22 and product code 194346474004, were shipped to Walmart locations between June 30 and July 7. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed the contamination but noted that no cases of illness have been linked to the product.

The agency urges anyone who purchased the kits to wash their hands after handling them, sanitize any surfaces they may have contacted, and either discard the items or return them to the retailer for a refund. Walmart has not responded to requests for comment. The recall highlights ongoing food-safety vigilance for ready-to-eat products.
