Walmart recalls Great Value organic berry blend in 16 states over E. coli risk
Walmart is pulling its Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend from shelves in 16 states after a supplier flagged possible E. coli O145 contamination.
The Chilean producer Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. has issued a recall of the frozen berry mix sold under Walmart's Great Value label. The affected 10-ounce packages carry UPC 7874211226, lot code 6040 01-6, and a best-if-used-by date of February 9 2028. Distribution spanned stores in Florida, Texas, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina and other states. Health officials note that E. coli O145 can cause severe gastrointestinal illness, though no cases have been reported yet.
Why it matters
A contaminated food product can cause serious illness, so consumers need to remove the recalled berries from their homes.
