Walmart recalls Martina-brand mangoes over possible salmonella risk
Walmart is pulling Martina-brand mangoes from select stores in the Northeast after the FDA flagged potential salmonella contamination.
The Food and Drug Administration announced a voluntary recall of Martina-brand mangoes distributed by Panorama Produce after testing identified salmonella on mangoes grown on the same farm as the recalled product. The recall covers at least 302 nine-count boxes sold at Walmart stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut between early August. The mangoes bear a light-blue Agrofepac sticker, are labeled "Produce of Mexico," and carry PLU 4584 and UPC 07503061948050.
No cases of salmonella infection have been linked to the recalled fruit, but shoppers are urged to throw away or return the mangoes and to contact a health provider if they experience symptoms. Panorama Produce emphasized its commitment to food safety and provided contact information for consumer inquiries.
