Warren demands full contracts for Trump administration drug-price MFN deals

At a Senate Finance Committee hearing, Chris Klomp, nominated by Donald Trump to serve as deputy health secretary, faced intense questioning from Senator Elizabeth Warren about the opacity of the administration’s most-favored-nation drug pricing arrangements. Warren demanded the full contract texts, arguing that only the agreements themselves can reveal any concessions granted to pharmaceutical companies, including possible tariff breaks or faster FDA approvals.

Klomp repeatedly pointed to the lower prescription prices posted on the TrumpRx discount site but refused to disclose the underlying contracts. Warren highlighted a five-month delay in providing the documents and warned that oversight cannot rely on summary figures alone. Ron Wyden, the committee’s ranking Democrat, criticized the lack of transparency, saying the plan appears to trust Big Pharma without evidence of patient savings. The administration has asked Congress to codify the deals despite the contracts remaining undisclosed.
