Warriors add guard Brandon Williams on one-year, $2.6 million contract

Golden State Warriors announced the signing of free-agent guard Brandon Williams to a one-year contract valued at $2.6 million, marking the franchise’s first external acquisition this offseason. Williams, who spent most of his NBA tenure with the Dallas Mavericks after a two-way deal in December 2023, recorded a career-best 13 points, 3.9 assists and 22.2 minutes per game last season, shooting 47.2% from the field. The Warriors, needing additional perimeter scoring and speed off the bench, view Williams as a suitable fit.

The move also addresses the loss of starting guard Moses Moody, who will miss the start of the 2026-27 season due to a torn left patellar tendon suffered in March. Reports earlier this month indicated Golden State’s interest in Williams as part of a broader effort to add depth after an injury-plagued previous season. The addition comes as the team finalizes its roster ahead of training camp in September.
