Webb County deputy sentenced to 20 years for on-duty sexual assault
A Webb County sheriff’s deputy was given a 20-year federal prison term after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman during a traffic stop.
In a federal courtroom in the Southern District of Texas, former Webb County deputy Ignacio Rodriguez IV received a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of depriving a citizen of her legal rights. The incident occurred on September 1, 2024, when Rodriguez stopped a vehicle for traveling on the wrong side of the road and discovered two women who had been drinking. He threatened one of them, disabled his body camera, and forced her to perform oral sex in his patrol car, after which she vomited.
The victim later reported the assault, prompting a hospital evaluation that confirmed her claims, while local police and Texas State Troopers recovered video recordings supporting the allegations. Judge Marina Marmolejo sentenced Rodriguez, and federal prosecutors agreed to dismiss additional charges as part of the plea agreement.
