WhatsApp Business Platform introduces new message fees in Indonesia starting Oct. 1

Meta will begin charging for certain business-to-customer messages on the WhatsApp Business Platform in Indonesia from October 1, 2026, with a free quota of 1,000 service messages per month.

Starting October 1, 2026, Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform will impose fees on service messages—non-template replies sent within 24 hours of a customer inquiry—at Rp356.65 per message once a monthly limit of 1,000 free messages per registered business number is surpassed. The same charge will apply to utility messages dispatched during the 24-hour window, which were previously free, while utility messages sent after the window continue to be billed.

Messages initiated by customers and conversations that follow a Click-to-WhatsApp advertisement’s 72-hour grace period stay cost-free. The pricing changes affect only API-based integrations and the Cloud API, leaving the standard WhatsApp Business mobile app untouched. Companies will need to monitor their monthly service-message volume to avoid unexpected costs. Meta emphasizes that replies within the support window do not require pre-approved templates, but messages beyond that period must use approved templates.
