White House calls for Chuck Lorre to get psychiatric help after anti-Trump remarks
TV producer Chuck Lorre insulted President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in a charity gala speech, prompting a White House spokesperson to demand he seek psychiatric treatment.
At a Los Angeles charity event honoring his foundation’s donation, television creator Chuck Lorre used his speech to denigrate President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, calling the president a "Russian asset" and the first lady a "surgically enhanced, cold-hearted Yugoslavian escort" who supposedly despises her husband. He also mocked the possibility of a fatal heart attack for Trump and compared Melania unfavorably to former First Lady Michelle Obama.
The White House, via spokesperson Davis Ingle, issued a rebuke, suggesting Lorre seek immediate psychiatric assistance for "Trump Derangement Syndrome." Lorre’s tirade extended to the Democratic National Committee and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and he concluded with a satirical version of the Serenity Prayer targeting Trump. Film critic Christian Toto criticized the double standard in Hollywood for allowing attacks on the first lady while generally sparing first spouses. No comment was received from Lorre’s representatives.
