In its latest situation report, the World Health Organization highlighted the disease’s severe mortality and the persistent difficulties of identifying cases promptly and providing timely treatment. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs added that the outbreak is now producing broad repercussions in the most affected areas, as aid resources are being redirected toward Ebola control. It noted that health services are suffering both from staff overload and from people avoiding care due to fear of infection and isolation measures.
