Whoop removes subscription fee for Advanced Labs health screening service
Whoop announced that its Advanced Labs blood-test screenings are now accessible without an extra membership charge, though each test still costs around $150.
Whoop revealed that its Advanced Labs feature will no longer be tied to a subscription, allowing all device owners to order blood-test health screenings directly. While the tests are not free—prices begin at about $150 each—they are now available without the previous membership barrier. Quest Diagnostics conducts the analyses, which can provide insights into cardiovascular, metabolic, hormonal and inflammatory health.
In addition, Whoop expanded the portfolio to include Galleri, a test designed for early detection of multiple cancers. The change arrives amid a crowded market for screenless fitness wearables, where rivals such as Garmin and Google Fitbit have recently launched competing devices. By widening access to health data, Whoop appears to be aiming to retain and attract users in a more competitive landscape.
Why it matters
Removing the subscription barrier could broaden access to detailed health data for wearable users.
