Widespread Power Failure Hits Batam and Nearby Areas Early Thursday

Around 6:30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, a large-scale power cut swept through Batam City and neighbouring areas including Bengkong, Sagulung and Sekupang. PLN Batam’s communication manager, Yoga Perdana Sulastama, confirmed that all technical and operational staff were sent to identify the disturbance point and start system recovery. The company emphasized that safety and reliability are guiding the restoration effort, with special focus on hospitals and public service centres.

While the exact trigger of the electrical system disturbance remains unknown, an inquiry is underway. PLN Batam will issue periodic updates via its Instagram, Facebook and contact centre, and has thanked customers for their patience.
