Widespread student protests in France spark school blockades and large rallies
French high school students have been demonstrating across the country, protesting teacher shortages, deteriorating facilities and issues with the Parcoursup platform, with some actions turning violent.
Since the protests began, French high school pupils have taken to the streets to denounce insufficient teacher replacements, crumbling school infrastructure and the malfunctioning Parcoursup orientation platform. Some of the actions have involved blockades of school premises, leading to confrontations that left both students and police officers injured. A particularly large demonstration gathered hundreds of thousands of young people, as well as teachers and concerned parents, highlighting the breadth of the unrest.
