Widower asks teen driver who killed his wife to find love

In Brisbane Supreme Court, Jean-Paul Franzidis pleaded for the teenage driver who caused his wife Rosemary Franzidis’s death to experience love.

Rosemary Franzidis, a 69-year-old grandmother, was killed when a stolen Holden Barina driven by a 16-year-old teen collided with her Audi on Dohles Rocks Rd at Murrumba Downs. The teen, now 18, pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter, dangerous driving, aggravated attempted robbery and related offences. During the Brisbane Supreme Court hearing, her widower Jean-Paul Franzidis asked the court to grant the driver the chance to find a loving partner, echoing the love he shared with his late wife for 50 years.

The crash followed a series of carjacking crimes by the teen and two adult accomplices, who had previously threatened other victims with a replica firearm. Police were following the stolen vehicle when it struck Ms Franzidis, who died at the scene from multiple injuries. Two police officers were also injured in a separate collision with the teen’s vehicle.
