Winamp to relaunch in 2027 with Deezer-powered subscription service

Winamp revealed plans to launch a new version in 2027 that will sit next to the original app, which still claims over 40 million active users. The refreshed player will offer a monthly premium service that merges local music, internet radio, podcasts and cloud libraries, powered by Deezer’s streaming platform and catalog. Deezer, which reported a decline in partner-driven subscriptions in early 2026, sees the deal as a strategic move to revive its white-label business after recent contracts with Telenor and EDF.

Winamp will keep ownership of its core product and customer data, while Deezer handles licensing and streaming infrastructure. The arrangement avoids the integration challenges that stalled a similar effort in 2019. Pricing and platform details have not yet been disclosed.
