Window installer charged with killing Indonesian man in Klang

A window pane installer, Fauzi Mahya, was arraigned on a murder charge for the September killing of an Indonesian man in Klang.

In Klang, a 36-year-old window pane installer named Fauzi Mahya was formally charged with murder after an Indonesian man, Wijaya, was attacked on the roadside of Jalan Shahpadu Lama on September 25. The incident, which resulted in Wijaya's death on September 29, led to Mahya's arrest near Jalan Harapan in Taman Sungai Kapar Indah. During the magistrate's hearing, Mahya acknowledged the charge, but no plea was entered because murder cases are handled by the High Court.

Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Sulfie Abu Hassan outlined the prosecution's case, and magistrate Nor Azilah Mat refused bail, setting the next mention for January 12. Investigators allege Mahya's motive was jealousy, believing the victim was involved with his wife. The charge carries a possible death sentence, up to 40 years imprisonment, and mandatory caning if death penalty is not imposed.
