Wing and Walmart to launch drone deliveries in Denver and Seattle by 2027
Wing and Walmart will begin drone delivery operations in Denver and Seattle in 2027, adding to their existing service in five U.S. cities.
Wing and Walmart have announced that their joint drone-delivery program will begin serving the Denver and Seattle metropolitan areas in 2027. This expansion builds on an existing network that currently operates in five U.S. cities—Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Orlando—and is intended to eventually enable aerial deliveries from more than 270 Walmart locations across the country. The companies also intend to add fourteen additional markets, among them Miami, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Their drones can fly at speeds of up to 60 mph and transport packages weighing as much as five pounds. When a Walmart purchase qualifies for drone delivery, shoppers will see the option on the retailer’s app or website, and orders can also be placed through Wing’s app. The news arrives shortly after DoorDash disclosed details of its own drone service, DoorDash Air, slated to launch in northern California with restaurant partners including Chipotle and Popeyes.
