Winnipeg police ask public to help locate two suspects in suspected arson

Winnipeg police are seeking two persons of interest linked to a suspected arson that heavily damaged a home on Granville Street.

Authorities in Winnipeg are appealing for assistance in identifying two persons of interest tied to a suspected arson that severely damaged a house on Granville Street in the North Point Douglas neighbourhood. The fire was reported shortly before 6 a.m. on Sept. 28, and crews from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service arrived to find smoke and flames, which they contained within about 45 minutes. During the operation, firefighters rescued an occupant by pulling them out of a window; the individual was later hospitalized but remains in stable condition.

The Winnipeg Police Service shared photographs of the two people it considers relevant to the investigation. Investigators have asked anyone with tips to reach out to the police major crimes unit.

Why it matters

Identifying the suspects could prevent further arson attacks and bring accountability for the dangerous fire.
