Witness accuses transgender lobby of using suicide threats to pressure women’s sports

In a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on protecting women’s sports, witness Kimberly Jones, co-founder of the Independent Council on Women’s Sports, accused the transgender lobby of using suicide risk claims as a form of male gaslighting to compel women to surrender locker rooms and competition slots to men. She rebuked Sen. Dick Durbin’s reference to a Trevor Project statistic linking LGBT youth suicide to mistreatment, arguing that such arguments constitute emotional blackmail.

Jones called for an outright prohibition of biological males from female sports, dismissing the notion that hormone therapy or surgery levels the playing field. She warned that permitting any medically altered men creates a slippery slope, questioning whether severely ill or elderly men could also compete against women. The testimony referenced recent Supreme Court cases, Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J., which examined the impact of medical interventions on one outlet performance gaps. Jones emphasized that women should not bear the mental-health burden of gender-dysphoric individuals.
