Woman and Friend Abducted in Thrissur Lodge by Impersonators, Five Arrested
A woman and her male companion were seized in a Thrissur lodge by men posing as police, resulting in a gang-rape; five suspects have been detained.
Two individuals from Tiruppur stayed at a lodge close to the KSRTC bus stand in Thrissur when a group of six men arrived, pretending to be police officers. After tying and gagging the pair, the assailants split them: the man was beaten, sustaining several arm and leg fractures, and abandoned near a hospital in Tiruppur, while the woman was taken in a different vehicle and sexually assaulted. Investigators suspect the man's wife used his mobile-phone location to guide the gang. The case, filed by Tamil Nadu Police and transferred to Thrissur City Police, led to the arrest of five suspects—one near Nedumbassery airport, three in Tiruppur, and one in Palani—while a suspected minor remains unapprehended.
