Woman and Parents Arrested Over Alleged Atropine Poisoning of Husband
Police detained a woman, her 70-year-old father and 66-year-old mother after a complaint by her husband, alleging they tried to poison him with atropine.
Police took a woman, her 70-year-old father and 66-year-old mother into custody after her husband reported an attempted poisoning. The woman, employed as a medical representative, is alleged to have obtained a copy of the house key and accessed the residence to contaminate the victim's meals, an act captured on a closed-circuit camera. A search of her vehicle uncovered a syringe, gloves, a surgical mask and ten milliliters of atropine, a drug that can cause severe physiological effects if misused.
The husband has been subjected to toxicological analysis, though the findings have not yet been released. Prosecutors have charged the woman with attempted dangerous bodily harm, and her parents with complicity in the scheme. Atropine, while used medically for heart-rate issues and certain poisonings, can be lethal in high doses.
