During the early hours, a 49-year-old woman called the emergency number from a summer cottage, claiming she had stabbed her 61-year-old boyfriend with a bread knife after he attacked her. She described applying a kitchen towel to the wound following the dispatcher’s advice, but her hands grew tired and the victim stopped breathing. Police and ambulance crews arrived after more than thirty minutes, but the man died on scene.
In subsequent interrogations, she said the assault was intended to make him retreat and that the couple had endured several years of controlling and violent behavior, including threats of self-harm. The case went to trial at the Etelä-Pohjanmaan käräjäoikeus, where the prosecutor is seeking a minimum nine-year prison term for the woman.
