Woman critically injured in police chase collision near Stratford-upon-Avon dies
A 62-year-old driver who was badly hurt after her car struck a police-pursued Audi on the A439 has died, while the 19-year-old Audi driver died at the scene.
On Monday, a police pursuit of a black Audi A3 on the A439 near Stratford-upon-Avon ended in a collision with a Ford Puma driven by a 62-year-old woman. The Audi driver, a 19-year-old male, died at the scene, and the woman later died from critical injuries sustained in the crash. Two additional occupants of the Ford were hospitalized; one suffered serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, while the other’s injuries were deemed minor.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an inquiry and noted the families of both deceased have asked for privacy. Warwickshire Police have directed inquiries to the IOPC and have referred the case to the police complaints watchdog. The crash forced the closure of Warwick Road from the Marraway roundabout to Ingon Lane on Monday, with the closure persisting into Tuesday morning.
