Woman dies after stray bullet hits her in Brooklyn bar bathroom during early-morning brawl

A 33-year-old woman was fatally wounded by an errant shot during a street fight outside a Crown Heights bar and collapsed in the restroom.

Police reports indicate that a large altercation broke out just after 2 a.m. outside the Ooh La La Lounge in Crown Heights, drawing about 100 participants. An unintended bullet hit Sofronie Hartzog in the back and a second individual in the gut, according to NYPD statements. Hartzog ran into the nearby bar, collapsed in a restroom, and was transported to One Brooklyn Health-One Brookdale Hospital, where she could not be revived.

The male victim was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County Hospital and is listed as stable. Two men initially detained on suspicion were released after authorities determined they were not involved, and the search for the actual shooters remains ongoing.
