Woman files lawsuit alleging rape by Alpha Delta Phi member at UChicago party

A 19-year-old identified as Jane Doe sued the University of Chicago’s Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, claiming she was sexually assaulted at a February party.

In a Cook County court filing, a 19-year-old woman identified as Jane Doe alleges she was raped by a member of Alpha Delta Phi during a fraternity gathering on Feb. 7. According to the suit, she was served a drink that left her unconscious, and a friend later helped her leave the house while she struggled to speak and walk. The next morning she found bloodstains in her underwear and reported the assault to Chicago police, whose investigation is still ongoing.

The lawsuit also claims the fraternity and its University of Chicago chapter ignored prior assault allegations and did not establish meaningful protective measures. Neither the university nor the fraternity provided comment on the allegations.
