Woman killed after scooter slip and goods truck collision on Bengaluru's damaged road

On a Wednesday morning in Bengaluru’s Electronics City, 32-year-old Medha Akarsh, who worked at the Employees’ Provident Fund office, was traveling as a passenger on a two-wheel scooter with colleague Ajay Guru along Anantnagar Main Road. The scooter lost traction on a slushy, badly damaged section, and when a car ahead braked abruptly to avoid a pedestrian, she was thrown onto the roadway. A mini goods vehicle approaching from the opposite direction ran over her; the driver left the scene and the vehicle’s registration was not recorded.

Medha was rushed to a nearby private hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind her husband Akarsh and their three-year-old son. The incident has sparked anger among local residents who fault municipal authorities for the road’s neglect, while police acknowledge the poor surface but say sudden braking was the immediate trigger and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage. The case underscores concerns over road safety and accountability in the city.
