Woman killed in Brooklyn park after rejecting man's advances, witnessed by dozens
A 30-year-old mother was fatally stabbed during a late-night barbecue in Crown Heights after refusing a man's sexual requests, with her 7-year-old son present.
NYPD investigators report that Shakeema Davis organized a gathering at Lincoln Terrace-Arthur S. Somers Park, where she was repeatedly solicited for sex by a man she had previously dated. After she rejected him and threw a drink, she used a barbecue to defend herself, after which the man produced a knife and stabbed her three times, causing fatal injuries. Davis was taken to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where she later died.
Approximately 15 to 20 people, including her 7-year-old son, were present; some tried to restrain the attacker while others attempted first aid. A strong person of interest and the vehicle used to flee have been identified, but police have not yet established probable cause for an arrest.
