Woman killed in three-vehicle crash on Yorkshire’s A647 as two drivers arrested
A collision involving three cars on the A647 near Halifax left a woman in her 40s dead, and two drivers were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
Police say a three-vehicle collision unfolded on the A647 Queensbury Road near Halifax shortly before 10.45 am, involving a Honda Civic, a Seat Leon and a VW Golf traveling in opposite directions. The impact killed a female rear-seat passenger in her 40s, who died at the scene. Emergency crews closed the road and treated several injured parties, three of whom were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The male driver of the VW Golf was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing death by dangerous driving, while the driver of the Seat Leon faces suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Both suspects have been released on bail pending further investigation, and police are seeking witnesses or footage of the incident.
