Woman trades unpaid bar bill for head shave in Bangkok incident

A customer who used a counterfeit identification to gain entry to a well-known Bangkok bar on August 25 left with a 60,000 baht charge she could not settle. Bar personnel detained her and suggested that, in exchange for avoiding police, she consent to a head shave, which she reportedly accepted. Footage captures the bartender trimming her shoulder-length hair with an electric razor while a man behind the camera discusses the market rate and additional fees.

Chalida Phalamat, who leads the Be One Foundation, said the manager acted impulsively and that a contract signed under pressure is void, labeling the act potentially assaultive. She announced that the bar has apologized and will discuss compensation with the victim’s family, and she has asked the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to look into the matter. The case follows a prior incident in May where a gay man named Abdulloh was also compelled to shave his head after public backlash over offensive remarks.
