Women Economic Forum and G100 Meet Unveil Six Pillars for Female-Led Development in Malaysia
The annual Women Economic Forum and G100 Global Meet adopted a resolution with six strategic pillars to advance women-led development, which will be presented to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
At the International Youth Centre in Kuala Lumpur, the Women Economic Forum and G100 Global Meet released a resolution outlining six pillars aimed at fostering women-led development, including economic self-reliance, lifelong learning, community transformation through social entrepreneurship, health and well-being, ethical guidance for digital and AI technologies, and empowerment through partnerships with policymakers, academia and business.
Chairperson Datin Dr Hartini Osman announced that the document will be submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on behalf of the delegates. The event hosted roughly 400 local and international participants and featured 71 speakers from 17 nations in 25 sessions. In his closing remarks, Senator Dr Jufitri Joha highlighted the need to move beyond symbolic representation to ensure women have equitable access to capital, markets, technology and decision-making tables, noting statistical evidence of a gender gap in labour force participation. He called for a shift toward a human-centric economy that formally recognises the care economy and the role of women in community development, emphasizing the business sector's responsibility to translate policy goals into real opportunities.
Why it matters
The resolution signals a coordinated effort to close Malaysia's gender labour gap and boost women's economic power.
