Woodlands North RTS Link station finished, on track for 2027 cross-border service

The Land Transport Authority announced that the Woodlands North station, the Singapore end of the Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link, has reached completion, preserving the target of launching passenger service in 2027. The underground facility, 28 metres deep with three levels, includes a ticketing concourse, arrival hall and a direct underground link to the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complex for pre-board clearance.

Construction required extensive drilling and more than 600 controlled rock blasts, timed to avoid disrupting users of the adjacent Thomson-East Coast MRT line. Designed for a capacity of 10,000 passengers per hour each direction, the line is projected to carry about 40,000 commuters daily. Sustainable features such as high-volume low-speed fans and nature-inspired design elements have been incorporated, and the viaduct over the Johor Strait will display a clasped-hands motif symbolising bilateral ties. Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed that Malaysian-side infrastructure is also finished and the project is entering final integration testing.
