World Athletics Road Running Championships set for Copenhagen with star-studded field

Copenhagen will host the World Athletics Road Running Championships on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20, with six world titles contested in the mile, 5km and half marathon for both men and women. A field of almost 500 runners includes Norwegian star Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who seeks his first road title after European and World Indoor success, and French 10,000m champion Jimmy Gressier, who holds the season's fastest 5km time.

The United States' Yared Nuguse leads the mile competition, while Uganda's double Olympic champion Joshua Cheptegei and Sweden's Andreas Almgren headline the half-marathon races. Kenya's Agnes Ngetich aims for a cross-country and road double, and Ethiopia's Likina Amebaw targets back-to-back world crowns after a recent Ultimate Championships win.
