World Food Program USA Keeps Texas Investor on Board Amid DHS Probe

World Food Program USA, a U.S. charity that raises funds for the United Nations World Food Programme, scrubbed its leadership roster from its site after a newspaper disclosed a Department of Homeland Security investigation into its donors. The agency said the website outage was due to scheduled IT work and that board member Basil Qunibi, the head of Austin-based Atom Investors, is still on the board. Federal investigators are examining Qunibi, Australian billionaire Yasser Shahin and Democratic fundraiser Bassema Yousef for possible connections to a UK-based network that finances anti-Israel messaging and may involve sanctioned Palestinian entities.

No one has been charged, and the DHS declined to comment. The rest of the site, including donation portals and press releases, remained functional. The controversy also touches other philanthropic links, such as Atom Advisors’ ties to the Palestinian charity Taawon, but those groups are not currently under investigation.
