South Korea’s reigning Olympic and world champion An, aged 24, secured a seventh season title at the China Masters, defeating Tomoka Miyazaki 21-17, 21-6 in Shenzhen without dropping a game. Expressing confidence yet caution, she noted the growing depth of competition ahead of the Asian Games starting Sept 19 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, where she will defend her women’s singles crown. In the men’s singles, Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan triumphed over Lee Cheuk-Yiu in straight sets.

India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty overcame China’s He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu to retain their men’s doubles title, vowing intense preparation for the Games.
