World religious and political leaders gather in Utah for G20 Interfaith Forum

The annual G20 Interfaith Forum is being held at the University of Utah, featuring speeches by LDS President Dallin Oaks, Governor Spencer Cox and other global faith and political figures.

The G20 Interfaith Forum convenes this week at the University of Utah Institute of Religion, with its opening ceremony set in the historic Tabernacle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The program opens with a performance by the Tabernacle Choir and addresses from prominent religious figures, including LDS President Dallin Oaks and Muslim World League secretary-general Mohammad Al-Issa. Political participants feature Utah Governor Spencer Cox, former South Carolina Governor David Beasley, and civil-rights leader Martin Luther King III, who will explore ways to model civil dialogue across faith and partisan lines.

Over three days, dozens of civic and faith representatives will discuss interfaith cooperation, religious liberty, global health, hunger, mental health, artificial intelligence, education, energy, human trafficking and the Olympics. The forum’s stated mission is to foster global solutions by uniting religious thought leaders with political representatives.
