World's tallest wind turbine reaches 365 m in Brandenburg, rivaling Berlin TV Tower

Gicon announced that the high-rise wind turbine in the Lausitz region of Brandenburg has reached its target height of 365 metres, placing it just below the Berlin TV Tower and establishing it as the tallest wind turbine worldwide. The structure’s hub is 300 metres above ground, and the rotor blades extend the total height to 365 metres; the inner tower was raised with a telescopic mechanism and then locked in place. Installation was paused by strong gusts, pushing back the official record announcement, and final work will continue in the coming days before the turbine is commissioned in November.

With a rotor diameter equal to existing models, the turbine is expected to produce roughly twice the power of a conventional unit, enough for about 7,500 households. Innovation manager Martin Chaumet believes the extra height will allow wind energy to be more evenly distributed across Germany, potentially lowering the need for additional transmission infrastructure. The former record holder, a Vestas turbine built by Max Bögl on Winnberg in the Upper Palatinate, stands at 285 metres total height.
