Wout van Aert clinches first Vuelta stage win in dramatic Loja sprint
Belgian rider Wout van Aert captured his first stage victory of the Vuelta a España by winning a two-up sprint at the end of stage 13.
Van Aert broke away early in the 192.8 km stage from Alumincar, rejoined the leaders on the final climb to Puerto de Granada and, after teammate Bruno Armirail helped him return to the front, outsprinted Valentin Paret-Peintre in Loja. Matthew Brennan completed the podium for Visma-Lease a Bike, while overall leader Enric Mas finished safely in the peloton.
